CHRONIC PAIN

Pain that has forgotten to stop.

The wound has healed, the scan is clean, and the pain stayed. Not because you are imagining it — but because the system that carries it has changed its setting.

Does this sound familiar?

What it looks like day to day.

If you recognise three or more, it is worth looking not at each complaint separately, but at the system that connects them.

  • 01The pain continues after the cause has been removed
  • 02It intensifies under stress and with poor sleep
  • 03It moves, or spreads without a clear border
  • 04Painkillers work for shorter and shorter periods
  • 05Movement frightens you more than the pain itself
What is actually happening

The complaint is on the surface. The control sits deeper.

Pain is not produced in the tissue but in the nervous system. In persistent pain the threshold of that system shifts: signals are amplified and the brakes weaken. This is described as central sensitisation.

The autonomic nervous system takes part in that loop. Poor sleep lowers the threshold further, pain spoils sleep, tension sustains both. That is why treatment working only at the site of pain often reaches this point and stops.

Where NESA comes in

NESA does not act at the site of the pain and is not an analgesic. It works on the regulation that determines how the system processes the signal — and on sleep, which is part of the same loop.

How it works

We force nothing. We speak the language the body already uses.

NESA XSIGNAL® is a certified medical device for non-invasive neuromodulation of the autonomic nervous system.

01

Your body runs on electricity

The autonomic nervous system — the one that governs sleep, alertness, bladder and digestion — works at very low frequencies: between 1 and 14 cycles per second.

02

NESA speaks in the same window

Microcurrents in that same frequency range, delivered through gloves and ankle cuffs while you lie down or sit in a chair. No needles, no medication, no preparation.

03

The fact that you cannot feel it is why it works

The signal sits below the threshold of sensation. Because it does not trigger the body’s defences, the nervous system does not habituate to it, and the signal can accompany it session after session.

04

The practitioner’s hands stay free

The session runs alongside another therapy — physiotherapy, conversation, rehabilitation. Not a separate appointment, but a layer over the treatment already under way.

What to expect

When would I notice anything?

It depends on one thing: how long the regulation has been disturbed. We say so up front, so you know what to expect — and so you do not stop after the third session because nothing has happened yet.

SESSION 6–8

The first changes are usually felt here — most often in sleep and in recovery.

SESSION 10–30

The more substantial change comes in this range, at a steady rhythm of two sessions a week.

BLOCKS OF 10

With a chronic profile the work is done in blocks. After each block, a fresh assessment with objective measures, not by feel alone.

A guiding framework from practice, not a promise of results. The exact schedule is set by the practitioner delivering the treatment.

What the science says

The figures come from the manufacturer — with the source.

NESA is used in clinics and hospitals across 53 countries and is the subject of more than 20 peer-reviewed publications. The manufacturer publishes the results together with the journal and PMID of each study — so anyone can check the source themselves instead of relying on a retelling.

Common questions

Short answers, no hedging.

Is NESA a painkiller?

No. It does not block pain signals and does not replace pain treatment. It works one level behind — on the regulation that determines how the system processes them.

Can I have it alongside physiotherapy?

Yes. That is also the most common way: the physiotherapist works while the neuromodulation runs at the same time. The practitioner’s hands stay free.

Does the treatment itself hurt?

No. The current is below the threshold of sensation. Gloves and ankle cuffs, a chair, about an hour.

And if it does not work?

That is possible. This is why the schedule is assessed in blocks of ten sessions — with objective measures, not by feel alone. If nothing moves, it stops.

Other complaints

It rarely comes alone.

Complaints of the autonomic nervous system rarely arrive on their own. If you recognise another one here, that is most likely not a coincidence.

Complaint

Sleep

The bedroom ceiling. Again.

Complaint

Dysautonomia

When the autopilot goes out of tune.

Complaint

Fatigue

I slept. And I am still empty.
